Call for Submissions - Graphic Scores

Waiteata Music Press is planning a new edition on NZ graphic scores. They are looking to create a collection that embraces the widest definition of ‘what is a graphic score?’ They have invited contributions from composer/artists with whose work in this area we are already familiar, but we are keen to have contributions from as wide a range as possible. Works do not have to be newly made - we are including material from the 1960s. They may also include colour prints.

Call For Scores: YOUNG COMPOSER COMPETITION - ACL CONFERENCE & FESTIVAL 2012 IN TEL AVIV, ISRAEL

New Zealand has a proud history of success at the ACL Young Composers competition. We have had numerous first placings, including five in the last twelve festivals.

We are now seeking entries from CANZ members born after 14 October 1982 to represent New Zealand at the Asian Composers League Young Composers Competition being held in Tel Aviv, Israel.

2012 COMPOSITION CONTEST for the 2013 USA International Harp Competition

* $2,000 USD cash award
* Inclusion on the 2013 USA International Harp Competition’s required repertoire list
* Performed by the Gold Medalist at the competition and related debut recitals
* Publication by Lyon & Healy Harps
* Inclusion on the 2013 USA International Harp Competition First Prize Winner’s CD recording
produced by Lyon and Healy Harps

RULES

* Duration: 6-8 minutes
* Instrumentation: solo harp (other instruments may be included if played by the harpist)
* Eligibility: work must be unpublished, unawarded and not have been recorded for commercial distribution
* Previous winners are not eligible
* Submissions: Online Application Form, PDF of anonymous score, MP3 recording played by harpist

DEADLINES

* October 30, 2012. Online application form, short bio, PDF of anonymous score
* November 30, 2012. MP3 recording of submitted work played by a harpist. No digital or midi recordings will be accepted
* January 30, 2013. Winning composition announced

The municipal cultural institute, ‘Joaquin Chapaprieta’ has organised the (tenth) annual ‘SYMPHONY COMPOSITION CONTEST – CITY OF TORREVIEJA’.

Open to all composers.
A single prize of twelve thousand euros (12,000€) will be offered to the winner.

International Composition Prize 2013: Luxembourg Sinfonietta

The Luxembourg Society for Contemporary Music announces its 10th International Composition Prize for 2013 in cooperation with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.

Composers from all over the world – regardless of age – are invited to present new works for an orchestra consisting of seven traditional Chinese instruments and seven classical western instruments.

International Competition for Music Creation for Women Composers

Magistralia has announced the 4th edition of its International Competition for Music Creation for Women Composers.
This activity, which takes place every two years, looks forward the visibility of women´s work in music, allowing both the performance of contemporary music created by women in Spanish orchestras.

The jury is formed by several prestigious women in the musical scene, either performers, musicologists and conductresses.

4th Grazyna Bacewicz International Composer Competition, Lodz 2012, Pol

we are pleased to announce the 4th Grazyna Bacewicz International Composer Competition, Lodz 2012, Poland.
Its organizers are the Grazyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Lodz, Poland and the Arthur Rubinstein Lodz Philharmonic.

The competition is open to composers of all nations regardless of age. Each participant may submit more than one score.
Application deadline is 31st August 2012.

The Jury will consist of eminent composers:
Zygmunt Krauze (Poland), Agustin Charles (Spain), Paul Patterson (United Kingdom) and Chen Yi (China, USA).
