Mette Leroy plays new New Zealand works in Auckland

Flautist Mette Leroy has commissioned four new works for flute from New Zealand composers as part of her DMA research and will present these in the concert FLUTE21 on Saturday 28th July. These new works - by John Elmsly, Samuel Holloway, Eve de Castro-Robinson and John Rimmer - will be performed with works by Aitken, Crumb and Dutilleux.

20th century choral music

A concert given by the Bach Choir of Wellington and Renaissance Singers of Palmerston North featuring some smaller 20th century choral works and a premiere of ‘Ave Maria’ for double choir by Nigel Williams. The concert will be given first in Wellington at St John’s Church (cnr Willis/Dixon str) at 2pm on Sunday 29 July directed by Nigel Williams; then at 2.30pm at All Saints Church Palmerston North on Sunday 12 August directed by Guy Donaldson. The other work in the concert is the ‘Nelson’ Mass by Haydn

APO Young Achiever plays work by Yvette Audain

Thursday 10th May, 12.10 - 1pm: Auckland Philharmonia are staging a Young Achievers’ Concert at the Auckland City Library (level 2, Wananga). As it is New Zealand Music Month, outstanding 16-year-old clarinetist Ryan Cha will be performing a New Zealand work: Yvette Audain’s Hold Fast (1999) for unaccompanied clarinet. This will be the first time a performer other than the composer herself has presented this work. Would love to see you there!
